We are seeking a National Safety Director to lead our safety strategy and culture across all U.S. operations. This role is pivotal in ensuring compliance, risk reduction, and the highest standards of employee safety across hundreds of client locations.

Position OverviewThe National Safety Director will oversee all aspects of safety and risk management for MLS nationwide. This role requires extensive travel (up to 75%) to evaluate worksites, train field leadership, and ensure consistent implementation of safety programs. The ideal candidate will be both strategic and hands-on, capable of setting national safety policies while personally engaging with teams in the field to drive compliance and accountability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and oversee MLS’s national safety and risk management programs.
  • Conduct regular site visits across all operating regions to ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and client safety requirements.
  • Audit safety performance metrics, incident investigations, and corrective action plans.
  • Partner with regional operations leaders to identify and mitigate risks before they escalate.
  • Lead the development and delivery of employee safety training and certifications.
  • Build a culture of safety through education, communication, and recognition programs.
  • Manage safety reporting, analytics, and continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.
  • Serve as MLS’s primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, insurance carriers, and client safety representatives.
  • Oversee accident investigations and lead root-cause analyses to prevent recurrence.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources and Legal teams on workers’ compensation and claims management.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
    • 7+ years of progressive safety leadership experience, preferably in transportation, logistics, or workforce management industries.
    • Comprehensive understanding of OSHA, DOT, and state-specific safety regulations.
    • Proven success implementing nationwide safety programs across multiple locations.
    • Strong communication, presentation, and training skills.
    • Willingness to travel up to 75% throughout the United States.
    • CSP, CHST, or equivalent safety certification strongly preferred.
